Scouting the 2015 Draft: Harrison Bader

Harrison Bader is a name that is starting to get noticed by draftniks following college baseball.  He's a 6'0", 190 lbs CF out of Univ. of Florida.  He B-R, T-R.  Hit .312 his freshman season, then .337 last year.  This year he found another gear and has put up this line so far:

.419/.548/.903, 7 HR, 4 SB, 17 BB, 11 K in 62 AB.

Small sample size here, but he's kicked up the power with the juiced college ball.  He's been ranked outside the top 50 draft prospects lists, but if he continues this torrid pace, he could become a solid second round selection or even sneak into the supplemental round.

  1. Do you gauge defensive abilities for guys this deep in the draft? If so, how does Bader stack up?

With those kind of offensive numbers from a CF, starts to look like a potential Giants-type of pick..

  2. Interesting day today Doc.
    1) D-Backs not too happy with how Tomas looks this spring especially on defense, but the O didn't look too inspiring either.
    2) Giants "a little concerned" about Pagan's back.....not good
    3) Brady Aiken threw 12 pitches and then left with an injury...hm

    1. Aiken may well have just fallen out of 1st round consideration if his arm is serioulsly injured. There's a lot of questions around him all of a sudden.
